This is patently wrong. There are many people who are on EAD at the time of I-485 adjudication.
The only legal requirement is that the person has a valid offer from the I-140 sponsoring company (or some other one, if AC21 is used) for a same or similar job (similar to what was mentioned in the LC). In practice, the petitioner should have the job at the time of adjudication.

We cannot get the passport renewed anywhere, if you are in south most probably you need to get it renewed from Houston. So any one ............who went in person for non-emergency case.

Coopheal, what was the filing date for your 485? I take that it went to NSC? I'm a mid July '07 filer and am hoping for LUD's since processing times are current for that month. Offcourse it would be preadjudication like yours since my PD is so far from being current. Luckily my 140 was approved last year prior to 485.

They might not send one to you if you request over the phone, this is for your own security since you keep hearing about cases where personal identity is stolen. If you have an online account, log in and send a request from there, they might send it to your email for a nominal fee though I am not sure. I got mine from Bank of America for 10$

honest opinion, talk to a good lawyer about this. your case is unique so dont depend comments from us. Companies have always used the carrot and stick aproach, with GCs, its just our luck that we roll the dice with this process and how we are exploited. You can stand your ground and negotiate with your firm, to a certain extent they need you too. Your I-40 is owned by the company, so they are the ones sponsoring you. Besides your current lawyers will probably have all your papers and approvals. Our lawyer did not even give us the I 140 number as we did not file it. I guess you might need all the 140 papers when you file for 485

I got my Green card in mail yesterday. I want to thank IV and everyone for all the support during this GC journey. I wish everyone all the best for their green card process. I wish everyone gets to file 485 irrespective of priority dates and ultimately get their green cards. This is a question to Admin, i have a recursive donation going on, I would like to make a one time donation and stop the recursive donation.

It looks like my lawyer has already mailed the application to USCIS. The priority dates becomes current only on July 1st.

Why does USCIS want TB test done? Many countries like India have BCG vaccination administered at childhood thus preventing TB. However, such people will show a false positive if administered a skin test for TB.
This is causing many Indians to go for a chest xray. I feel this is a ridiculous requirement.

I think that is standard message, my I-140 RD is sep 20th 2006 and got RFE on ability to pay last month and my employer responded on 10/04 and the online status changed to RFE response received and case processing resumed. its been more than a week no update.
Strange...my 140 was filed on Nov 2006....and then got a REF on August 29th 2007, my pawyer responsed last week...and I thought that as soon as USCIS gets the evidence they will hopefully approve my case....(the evidence was a minor (atleast I thought it was minor) issue about birth date...
and now USCIS has revieved the evidence they asked for...guess what they say...
On October 10, 2007, we received your response to our request for evidence. We will notify you by mail when we make a decision or if we need something from you. If you move while this case is pending, call customer service. You should expect to receive a written decision or written update within 60 days of the date we received your response unless fingerprint processing or an interview are standard parts of case processing and have not yet been completed, in which case you can use our processing dates to estimate when this case will be done. This case is at our NEBRASKA SERVICE CENTER location. Follow the link below to check processing dates. You can also receive automatic e-mail updates as we process your case. Just follow the link below to register.
