Man, this website relieves my stress as it makes me realize that there are people whole lot depressed than I am , and it puts my life into perspective. Stress is only a state of mind.
For you sir, please live up to your username and cheer up. First thing you need to do is make a baby, everything will fall in it's place, trust me.
---
Well, I agree with your partially. Not with the baby making part. There are other avenues where we can channel our mind. In this case, volunteering for IV, especially now will be fruitful.

This reply shows that because no visa is available they cannot accept the applications. If courts find any mistake Judge may order to correct the procedure. It is tough for courts to order USCIS to accept I485 when Visa number is not available. In case court dismisses the lawsuit then DOS and USCIS will make those happenings in July as a precedence. It needs to be seen how the drama unfolds

BARTIROMO: Let me ask you a question on immigration. Lawyers are planning a class action suit right now over the State Department's offer of visas to highly skilled immigrants last month, even though the Department of Citizenship said there were no more visas available. What happened?
Dr. RICE: Well, this was a case in which for--at a certain point in time, we'd not filled the entire quota for these special immigrant visas. And made an announcement of that. But when they were filled, we had to cut it off at that point. There's a ceiling that's set every year and when that ceiling was reached, then we couldn't issue the visas any longer. But we're prepared to talk to people about what happened here. If there were problems in communication then those should be looked at. But it's pretty simple. We operate under a particular ceiling, and when that ceiling is filled, then we have to--we have to live within it.
BARTIROMO: And unfortunately, aren't these the exact type of people, very highly skilled, some physicians, that America wants to attract?
Dr. RICE: Well, it goes back to the point that I--that I made. A lot of people want to come to the United States. People will skills want to come to the United States. I'm a very big believer in having those people come to the United States, because the truth of the matter is, we don't, ourselves, produce enough of that skilled labor. We need to work on the educational front to make sure that we are producing us the numbers of engineers and the numbers of software people and the numbers of physicians that we need.
Dr. RICE: But we need immigration as well. The ceilings have been set. They are not ceilings that we set, they're set in the--they're set by statute, and I know that there are many who would like to see them raised, but that's a--that's a matter for the administration and Congress.

Something to chew over -- this is a Secretary of State who won't even admit to major blunders in Iraq, she is not about to admit they screwed up on this.

Take this scenario.
Under current "mis categorized quota" setup a EB3 takes 6 years to get GC for entire family. take this following scenario.
So the diff
current primary @ebquota - 6 years minimum
current derivative @ebquota - 6 years minimum
correct primary @ebquota - less than 2 years approx ( one person in place of 3)
correct derivative @fbquota - say 7 years.
The diff will be approx 1 year for the derivative ( 7 years – 6 years ) when they are moved from ebquota to fbquota.
again it cannot be more than 7 years ( 2 years primary GC + 5 years primary USC). the primary will get citizenship in 5 years and sponser the wife with in 2 to 3 months. so the diff cannot be more that a year. for derivative.
Remember this point: this is not change of law. this is the correct interpretation of law).
If it is not today some one will bring it up to CIS very soon.
If you are USC and then you are talking abou the FB2. Not for the GC holder. So will have to wait for years.

100% of anti-immigrant poll questions focus only on the Undocumented. We are only addressed as an afterthought.. mostly in the analysis nowhere else NADA. Here is a sampling of NumbersUSA poll questions..
Here is a sampling of the questions..
Public Opinion
NumbersUSA.com's goal of reducing annual legal and illegal immigration to more traditional numerical levels enjoys broad based public support. Virtually every major poll that has been conducted in the past decade finds that a majority of Americans support lower immigration numbers. As many of the following polls suggest, what we are for is the same thing a majority of Americans are for. CLICK HERE for our Public Opinion Archive.
Prefer Lower Numbers
Sixty-seven percent of Americans approve of the U.S. government deporting illegal immigrants to the country they came from.
Opinion Research Corporation/Lou Dobbs poll, June 8-11, 2006
Sixty-seven percent of Americans would you like to see the number of illegal immigrants currently in this country decreased.
Opinion Research Corporation/Lou Dobbs poll, June 8-11, 2006
Fifty-seven percent of registered voters believe the illegal immigration situation in the United States is "very serious" and twenty-nine percent believe it is "somewhat serious."
FOX News/Opinion Dynamics Poll, May 16-18, 2006
Fifty-five percent of registered voters "favor" trying to send as many illegal immigrants back to their home countries as possible.
FOX News/Opinion Dynamics Poll, May 16-18, 2006
Seventy-seven percent of Americans think the United States is not doing enough to keep illegal immigrants from coming into this country.
ABC News/Washington Post Poll, May 11-15, 2006
Fifty-seven percent of Americans think the May 1, 2006 illegal alien solidarity protests did more to hurt their cause than help.
NBC News/Wall Street Journal Poll, April 21-24, 2006
Informed that U.S. population is projected to grow to 420 million by 2050, fifty-seven percent of respondents believed that the present U.S. population of 300 million or less would be best for the country in the long run.
Roper ASW Poll conducted for Negative Population Growth (NPG), April 14-16, 2006
Six of ten Americans, according to the poll, favor annual immigration (now one million yearly) of less than 600,000 a year. Forty-five percent of respondents favored annual immigration of less than 300,000. Overall, seventy-two percent of respondents favor an annual immigration level that is less than the current one million.
Roper ASW Poll conducted for Negative Population Growth (NPG), April 14-16, 2006
Fifty-six percent of Americans agree that a practical way to reduce to near zero the number of resident illegal aliens is legislation making penalties for illegal presence so severe that illegal immigrants would leave voluntarily rather than run the risk of being caught and penalized.
Roper ASW Poll conducted for Negative Population Growth (NPG), April 14-16, 2006
They have effectively blocked our goals by muddying the issue of undocumented and legals. To the average Joe on the street.. immigrant == undocumented
Id like to see how many people will say No to the question " Do you support increase of Green Cards to immigrants already here playing by the rules, paying taxes, Soc Sec etc without benefits, and waiting in line for an average of 6-7 years"
Hell, quite a few of the poll questions say the "amnesty" is unfair to those people who play by the rules...
I say.. focus our efforts on us for the time being.. differentiate ourselves from the undocumented..

You are absolutely right, but that is not the sort of solution that Corporations see as what would raise american competitiveness. That is what this whole thing is about.
I feel that even if the SKIL bill passes, there will be another bill in a couple of years to bring down the number of H1s. That is because, the American public will raise their voice.
It all goes in cycles!

See my other post. People responded very specifically because this drive was directed towards a certain cause. I think we need to respect that.
Zoooom, Anzeraja & All pledgers,
Thanks for driving this effort. Subsequent to Aman's post, we can direct these pledges to the normal contribution drive for IV.
It was amazing to see such response to call for funds for Aman and other core members.

My APs are pending approval, I was told they reimburse if we write to them. Did they reject your apps and paid you back the checks? We also got our cards this 15th, what do we need to do at the SSN office, please guide.
Thanks,
znan
Hi All,
I got mine and my wife green cards on 21st august, Thursday.
Our case was approved on August 12th.
According to the trend I have seen it takes about 1.5 weeks to get your greencard in hand from the day you get the card production email.
Went to the Social Security office on 22nd. (I had actually calculated the day when I would get the cards looking at the trend on IV, so I had planned for it.)
The moment they see the GC (with a replacement card application of course) they know what to do. I think they do it very frequently.
Should get the new Social Security cards (which do NOT have a line at the top that says DHS authorization required to work), in a week or so.
Also I got I-131 DENIED email 2 days after my 485 was approved (I had applied for renewal). Yesterday got the letter form USCIS in the mail for the denial of I-131.
Thanks,
znan

I was getting excited coz seeing july 24 filers getting theirs and then i read your post :( Mine was received at NSC by same guy on July 30 11:23 a.m. But then again...it's uscis so i might just get it even the earlier filers right? ;)
There are 1000s waiting for receipts , filed before July 24th . Hope someone apprises USCIS that people are aware of it & they cannot fool millions just by a silly update (who is asking for it anyways!)!
Applied to NSC on 18th July and received on 19th by F.HAUINER (has anyone received application by this person.. asking just to check if mine reached the right place)
Receipts : Not Yet

This may be the *best advice*, imo.
Most "youngsters" (makes me feel really old now.. doesn't it.. ) visiting the U.S. for business/work/education seem to have no plans of residing in this country permanently. Most I've talked to in the past year or two are keen on returning home, or somewhere else.
Particularly true in case of India, imo.
jazz
Like many others on these forums, I have given up significant opportunities because I believed mistakenly that the GC mess would be cleared up in 2-3 years. Sometimes that does lead to extreme frustration - My wife often jokes that when I do actually receive my GC, I will have lost a very convenient excuse that the lack of one is holding me back. :-)
To those who are starting down this path, I have this piece of unsolicited advice. If you feel that you are depressed and this is affecting your health and/or your family, it may be best to move on - the world is a big place, full of opportunity; opportunities that cannot be quantified by an O*NET job code. Enjoy everyday while you can - you only live once.

Oct 09 bulletin indicates jan 22 2005, they should have Visa numbers atleast to cover all the 2004 eb2 in september. How they can calculate so accurately, I am guessing that there could be some more extra visas that may be available at the end of September. If that is not happening then visa numbers could be lost. For eg: If some 2004 cases are not approved by the end of the month for what ever reasons then there will be some visas available which may advance visa dates furthur. So the big question is what will USCIS do with still left visas? Will they approve beyond 5 Jan 2005,with out bulletin being current or just waste Visas?
